I get off at 8 the same time the store closes, and the owner comes in after 8 to work on things for the store, and occasionally do pet rescue stuff.
He's already a pretty sweet, laid back guy but I still didn't know how he'd feel if he showed up and found my boyfriend behind the register keeping me company so I told him to stay home last night, even though I don't feel comfortable being alone in the store without someone there that I know.
So last night the owner shows up and immediately asks, "Where's your body guard?"
"What?"
"Your boyfriend? Everyone tells me he stays here when you work alone."
"Oh, he's staying home tonight."
"Ah. Well just for future reference I would feel more comfortable if he was here with you. I don't feel comfortable just leaving you here by yourself. He can sit up here in the manager's office(an elevated, open square everyone spends their break in because you can watch over the store) if he wants, so long as you're not alone."
A boss that actually ENCOURAGES someone's S.O. to be there when they run the store alone.
Also he paid me early and gave me tons of compliments.
