apparently being 'travolta-fied" is a thing and people are deliberately messing up people's names like it's so funny
and I'm so hurt because even the broadway community is jumping on the bandwagon and if/then, the musical idina menzel is on right now, deliberately misspelled her name on the playbill, and broadway actors I've respected so much are getting their names 'travolta-fied' and just making fun of john travolta in general and I'm just so so upset. News articles have been saying that travolta has been beating himself up over that and people keep on bringing it up. That's so freaking rude. I'm so angry with some of my favorite broadway stars :c

RIGHT like ellen stuttered a few times and everyone is nagging her like "and this is why we rehearse" as if she didn't rehearse, as if john travolta didn't rehearse, as if they messed up because they were incompetent and not because they were actually, you know, HUMAN.
in fact I'd expect people to mess up the most during the oscars because it's the freaking oscars, and it's a big deal, and they were probably nervous because standing up there in front of hundreds of people knowing you've only got one shot is a heck of a lot different than acting in a studio knowing if you mess up you can do another take.
I absolutely abhor people who see celebrities as anything other than human.

but by all means let him be known for nothing other than that one time he accidentally messed up somebody's name at the academy awards

ohmygod I made a post about it on tumblr and somebody responded by travolta-fying my name and I am literally so revolted right now oh my god oh my god I'M SO ANGRY

And it was a hard name. People really are horrible but yeah, idina menzel has russian ancestry and a lot of russian names can be pretty hard to pronounce. Heck knows I still can't pronounce yulia lipnitskaya's name. |
