I flat out told her my gender thing asap because I wanted to be fair and let her know what she was getting into but she seems okay with it.
she's a visual arts major. Take that as you will.
and I really can't get her to stop talking about anime and she isn't into marvel
but at this point all I really want is someone who won't feel uncomfortable with me in the room and she seems decent enough. It's better than getting a random roommate and risk them feeling uncomfortable and having to switch or having them switch on me

me too
it's 2014 and she uses the "xD" face so I'm kind of wary but I'm trying not to judge until we talk a little more.
I mean as long as she's okay with me having a wonko sleep schedule and she doesn't do anything illegal while in the room, I can probably deal

I use that face still..... xD For me, and probably for her too, it's a better way to convey emotion, since just plain text can come off so many ways. Plus, visual arts major, they kind of rely on the...well...visual. And don't look down on it either. Where do you think your shows would be if people hadn't taken interest in that stuff? xD
You're going to meet a lot of personalities in college. I knew someone a lot like her. They're fun people that won't let you sit alone at meals unless you WANT to, and are great for club events. We had one in our Pride group, and everyone had a rainbow painted on them for the Pride Parade. xD

It's fine when people I know use that face, it's just that I've met more people that use it that I don't want to associate myself with than those I do, so I tend to be skeptical until I really get to know them. And omg, of course I'm not trying to look down on her visual arts major, I think that's really brave especially considering the fact that visual arts majors usually require the most number of credits at my school. It's just that on a general note, artists tend to be peculiar. Which can be awesome as well, but I've been living with my dad long enough to know that things may get a little strange but I did talk to her and I think we've basically settled on each other. We seem compatible enough so I'm hoping we'll be able to become friends. Neither of us are huge party people and we listen to the same music and everything.

You'll get along, don't worry. ^^ Just remember not all artistic types are like your dad. You're artistic. Would you say you're more open and welcoming?
