all the AP art students have their own little panel at school to showcase our art to the general public, and I asked my parents id they wanted to come see it and they told me they don't want to waste time driving all the way up to school to stare at a little art gallery for a few minutes and then drive back home

My mom does the same thing. She only went to my school for big events like graduation, but never when I won awards or competitions.
They could have worded it better, but maybe your parents are just really busy. My mom is a single parent and she was always at work so I couldn't blame her for not going to small things.

I mean my mom is a substitute teacher so she really doesn't have anything to do after work and I admit sometimes my dad is really busy, but that day he was really just sitting there playing the piano. idk I guess it just seemed like they simply didn't feel like it.
