I just got an email from the teacher coordinating the trip to new york, and he said the company funding the trip shut down and at this late time they can't find any replacement companies so they have to cancel the trip altogether

I saved so much money for this
I got so so so excited, like I was bragging to everyone about how I was finally going to go to broadway. I've never looked forward to something as much as this. And ugh I've been having so much trouble with this trip from the very beginning I should have known it was doomed from the very start but I still persisted and I'm so close to crying right now because I just wanted this so bad.

Keep saving your money and you can go yourself :) I'm sorry this happened D: they can't reschedule until next year, and I'm graduating this year :c okay so, I talked to two of my friends who said they'd take me to broadway over the summer and we'd like ride the train up to new york and whatever, and that actually sounds a lot more appealing than having to go with a school group, but the moment I told my mom she shot me down because I'm not """""old""""" enough to go to new york with friends without an adult chaperone, even though me and one of my friends are going to be legal adults, and she's actually going to be closer to nineteen. And she's so insistent and she knows how much this trip meant to me and I can kind of see her side of things, but it's just ticking me off because I asked her when I'd be old enough to go places by myself, and she told me when I'm in college. And like, I'm taking this trip in the summer like four months before I go to college, as if those four months are going to change anything??? I'm still going to be just eighteen, I'm still going to look like I'm twelve, but somehow me being in college makes me more mature just because I'm in college???? Frick and I told her if she was so worried she could just come because I have enough money to pay for two broadway tickets, but she told me she doesn't like broadway. Like, she's not willing to indulge me in this ONE thing that's so important to me. |

Wow. I'm guessing you're 18 so yea that is definitely old enough. You don't need your parents permission and it IS your money and your life. She should let up a bit. 4 months is nothing compared to 18 years

I'm trying to see if my other friend wants to come with us and if she can bring her boyfriend who's already in college, because like, my mom's main point is that she doesn't want a bunch of young biological females fresh out of high school going to new york all alone, but maybe if we have a boy with us she'll feel safer??
