This is a bit of a rant but it's more related to parenting so it goes here~
My cousin-in-law is pregnant.
She's due in 10 DAYS.
And all I can think when she posts is
WHAT
ARE
YOU
DOING???
I'm not a mom. I'm not a baby expert or a pregnancy expert. I've done my fair share of reading and tried to pick up on all sorts of facts/tips/ect. so that when I do become a mom, I'll be ready for it at least a tiny bit. I completely expect to be overwhelmed, tight on cash, sleepy, and have my whole life rearranged. It might not happen that way, but my philosophy is hope for the best and plan for the worst.
My cousin is TEN DAYS PREGNANT AND DOING NONE OF THAT.
She's already had a lot of problems during her pregnancy and her doctors have told her to spend the rest of it off her feet resting as much as possible, especially because recently there's been some traumatic events in her side of the family.
Instead, she's working 40+ hours a week at a fast paced job (STILL) that has offered her 3 MONTHS MATERNITY LEAVE. She's worked for them for years and is best friends with the owner and even they said they will pay her to nOT WORK RIGHT NOW.
But she keeps at it, and then goes out each night trying to party, bowl, do all this stuff. A few months ago I would have said yes sure. But she's due incredibly soon and she needs to be resting, considering how much stress has already been put on the baby.
And on top of that she's 10 days away from giving birth and has nOTHING but the baby room ready. And I mean the only thing she's done is decorate it. She has no diapers, no bottles, a handful of clothes, but really nothing for the baby but a crib, a GIANT AQUARIUM, and a room full of baseball decorations.
And just today she asked, "Is it okay to put a heating pad on if you're having cramps??" and everyone was screaming "NO!!!" at her and saying she's not even supposed to have hot baths, and apparently her doctor told her this at the beginning of the pregnancy but she decided her weekly scalding hot baths(I've had to run a bath for her, all heat no cold water) were not something she was going to give up and fought everyone about it when they mentioned it.
Ugh.
Ugh.
Ugh.
